The Greek Minister of Development and Investments, Adonis Georgiadis, had a meeting today with Panos Xenokostas, President & CEO, ONEX Group, with the participation of Nikos Papathanassis, Deputy Minister.

Immediately after the meeting Mr. Georgiadis said:

“Together with the Deputy Minister and responsible for these issues, Mr. Nikos Papathanassis, we met the CEO of ONEX Group, we have seen the good progress of the Syros shipyards’ privatization and we agreed to take the corresponding steps for Elefsis shipyards too. Our discussions with ONEX will continue next week so that the steps become much more specific and much faster.”

For his part, Mr. Papathanassis said:

“As Minister Georgiadis, on whose initiative this meeting was held, and the President of ONEX said, we discussed the course of Syros shipyards and the plan that will be submitted by the President of ONEX for Elefsis shipyards. We expect the developments and the course of the process so that the country’s shipyards will re-operate something that all Greeks anticipate “.

In his turn, Mr. Xenokostas said:

“After the meeting with Minister Georgiadis and Deputy Minister Nikos Papathanassis, we are very content as we see that our vision and our dream for the regeneration of the shipyards started with Syros is now a national strategy and can become very fast a pillar of development and locomotive for Greek economy “.
